The journey is not over, and will not be over until this horrible disease is wiped out!
Thus I begin my fund-raising efforts immediately for the 2009 walk!
But the journey is not over, “Here 4 U” has signed on again for 2009, because we have made a commitment to walk until we do not lose another woman or man.
In 2001, I was helpless and had to stand back and watch this disease take my 56 year old Mother from us, never getting to know her new Great-Grandson Ayden James.
In 2002, I was helpless again as I cared for my Mother-In-Law at her home for the 6 months until this disease took her life.
In 2008, I was helpless as I found a lump in my right breast. Had all the tests, biopsy was unsuccessful, MRI showed nothing. Thought I was in the clear.
Here I sit at the beginning of October 2009, waiting for my appointment on the 2nd to see my Oncologist, Dr. Sigman, at the JGH, to discuss removing and analyzing this mass, as it has grown, and scared of what will be the outcome.
So now you know someone who needs this money that "The Weekend to End Breast Cancer" raises. Now is your chance to help!
So please, when someone asks you for a donation, take a moment and look at your Mothers, Wives, Daughters, Sisters, Nieces, and close Friends, then sign the form and give what you can, every penny adds up, and goes to the people we love and want to protect!
I was amazed every day by my friends and team-mates, Cynthia and Helen. Whenever I thought I couldn't raise another dollar, they were there! When I needed a shoulder to cry on throughout the year, they were there! Their determination and spirits were what got me through this year!
I intend to walk, until I cannot or until a cure is found, I only PRAY that the second happens FIRST!
